Life With Cancer- dedicated 3ft by 4ft Painting “First Bloom” 2003 painting hangs in Office meeting room in Virginia office. ( Every First Bloom Original Painting is painted for every event( no one painting is the same ) Also, paintings given to all staff members.

Today, the number of original First Bloom paintings is over five, thousand in number given to auctions for cancer, raffles, survivor families, survivors at races, guest speakers.

Each race survivors, or family members , walkers wheelchair participant, I would present them with a First Bloom painting to say Thank You for your drive, hope, and most of all your constant commitment to raise funds. Because of my sensitivity to the sun since my breast cancer 11 years ago, They are all making a mark for people like me who can not participate on the field. Much Thanks. Fundraisers started in 2003 at Nova College that held a race “Relay For Life” this became my mission to make another smile, to know that everyone of us are special.

First Bloom Paintings in 2009 I was limited to my painting to the many states due to health issues this year.

First Bloom Umbrellas made a donation of One Thousand Dollars to Arlington Affiliate in 2008.

First Bloom Paintings were presented to 13 cancer models at Ann Taylors in Washington, D.C. And Andrea Roane was presenter to give the first painting to the store manager 2007

August 4th 2009 First Bloom Painting was auctioned at the Komen Event “Osprey's Golf Outing in Woodbridge, Va. 3Ft by 4ft was won by Retired Admiral Bob Pond.

First Bloom Painting is being re-donated by winner Retired Admiral Bob Pond : to Prince William Hospital for there annual fundraiser. Many thanks for having such a kind-hearted hope to help raise other funds for the cause.

In 2009, I was asked to become Ambassador of Saint Thomas Aquinas College, in Sparkill, New York. The years back as a night-student. I was deeply touched by Dr. Margaret Fitzpatrick , and Alumni JoAnne Favata offer. ( we exchanged umbrellas outdoors! Sister Fitzpatrick had a wonderful large red umbrella she gave me, I gave her First Bloom Umbrella. And she proudly accepted First Bloom Painting before our tasty lunch at the 9W Golf Restaurant, Sparkill,New York

American Cancer Society in Haverstraw, New York held a fundraiser.

Friends from my childhood attendance were present. We had a wonderful time of laughter.

Haverstraw Brick Museum,New York artist exhibit on the life of Joni Relyea past, and present as a former born New Yorker. Great to see so many friends, new friends, relatives, and meet visitors from New York City and the enjoyment of refreshments, and laughter back in November 2008.

Paintings of The Hudson River that were donated to West Point Military M.D.for offices back in 1985. These watercolors were on exhibit in the Highland Falls Gallery.

First Bloom Painting is presented at the Komen Race in Washington, D.C. In June 2009 to the Survivor of the year Sara Faught. Presenter , and guest speaker:Joni Relyea at the Breakfast Ceremony. Also, Peggy Santiglia ( a singer with Franki Valli and the Four Seasons ) Peggy was not able to attend and read “Wildflowers” a poem written by Tom Austin, composer, artist, drummer with the Royal Teens. Tom also co-wrote “Short Shorts” with Bob Gaudio. Bob Gaudio is a prodigy as a youth. And became the Great composer, singer for Franki Vali and The Four Seasons. (This poem “Wildflowers”was influenced by my symbolic reading to survivors when they receive First Bloom Painting since 2003.

Woodbridge Senior High School : Anchor Andrea Roane from WUSA9 was Guest Speaker, along with Superintendant staff, and Chamber of Commerce, and Principal, Music and Arts Director of Fine Arts Melvin Goodwyn. Unveiling: students, parents attendance.
Students painted for the first event mural signature piece: For dedication of Susan G Komen October Breast Cancer Month, and was televised.

Both Murals was televised in Virginia, and New York, and also “The Tree Of Hope” from Woodbridge Senior High School was televised International.

Students painted after school, during brakes and we dedicated this mural to Susan G Komen for October Breast Cancer Month. Unveiling: staff, and Supervisors, Guest Speaker: Anchor Andrea Roane from WUSA9 Washington, D.C. Also Komen CEO \Affiliate from New York City, and Guest Speaker, Dara Richardson-Heron M.D. Unveiling with friends and guests.

The signature music piece that is utilized for “The Tree Of Hope “ AND “ Hope For Our Children Murals will continue having children paint to the rhythm, and vibrations of instrumental sounds of the “Jersey Babys CD”

Master classes at Woodbridge Senior High School for students preparing for Governor School was directed by Joni Relyea 2002-03-04-05

First Bloom Paintings also contributed to aid for the Scott family in West Virginia for there sons funeral. As a cancer survivor my heart can feel the pain of a family loss.

Fundraiser for Sara at Madigans Restaurant in Occoquan, Va. First Bloom was presented to Sara.

The First Mural for The Guyana Embassy in Washington, D.C. This mural will be painted by children from age 3years to teen. On January 2009 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Lakeridge, Virginia. The music first played as the signature piece for inspiration is the “Jersey Babys”CD. The unveiling took place with the Honorable Ambassador Bayney Karran, his lovely wife Donna, and his loyal staff.
Also, Jackie Ezersky, Director of Religious Education who was FAB!To help assist the age children. All of the proceeds went to the Guyana Hospital in Georgetown, Guyana.
This will continue to grow every year under the direction of Joni Relyea.
Kevin Heider Director of Youth Ministry composed, and played guitar for The Honorable Karran. Title of the piece was “Hope For Our Children” enjoyed by all..
Special guests, friends, family, and staff had a marvelous time.

Dr.Sheit Hassan Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Neville Ramroop technician from Guyana for cancer. Also, Joni Relyea art instructor. ( Raising funds for Breast Cancer, Ovarian, for men and women to be able to receive treatment. ( no child should loose a parent, uncle, aunt, sister,grandmother, grandfather from these deadly diseases due to lack of funding)
It is my intention to help the country of Guyana every year with the help of the children.
There will be cards made for sale to help this project grow for Guyana families to be tested in Guyana Hospital. We missed Deacon Emil Myskowski due to illness. And also ,Andrea Roane from WUSA9 due to another commitment. Thank you for your attention with the children as they progressed with this project. Next year 2010 we hope to see both of them.
And special thanks to Rev.David P Meng Pastor and Rev.James R Searby giving the children the opportunity to grow in spirit, and to share there communion among friends side-by side. Many thanks, Joni

January 2010- The mural “Hope For Our Children “will be our 2nd Annual Fundraiser and children from all states will paint along with the signature piece “The Jersey Babys CD” for motivational instrumental rhythm. This is a Fundraiser for The country of Guyana. Ambassador Bayney Karran will be our Honored Guest.

2009 designed First Bloom hand-painted scarves, and neck ties. Andrea Roane, Anchor from Washington D.C. WUSA9 wore the scarf to “Key To The Cure” at Saks 5th. And Howard Bernstein ,Anchor also wore First Bloom neck tie on WUSATV9 on there October Breast Cancer Month on TV.
